How to Layer Fragrance

Are you new to fragrance layering? Fragrance layering is the process of combining scents or layering products with the same scent. Through layering, you can create a unique scent by using different fragrances or you can intensify a single scent with scented body products.

Many fragrance brands also offer scented body products, so if your favourite scent also comes in a shower gel, body wash, body cream, lotion, and deodorant, consider buying the full set. Using scented body products also allows you to try out different fragrances before you’re ready to purchase a new perfume

Begin in the shower or bath. Wash with a scented shower gel or body wash. After your shower, while the skin is still moist, apply a scented body cream or lotion. This will lock in the scent you just applied in the shower or bath. Fragrance is proven to last longer on well hydrated skin. Next apply your deodorant, whether stick or spray.

Before you spray on your perfume, make sure the body lotion or cream has absorbed on the skin. Body lotion or cream does serve as a base for the fragrance to cling onto the skin for a stronger, more intense fragrance.

It’s important to learn which body parts to spray the fragrance because individual parts of the body have their own inherent smell and so will hold fragrance in a different way and diffuse it at a different rate. Aim for pulse and heat areas: behind your ears, centre of your throat, inside your elbows, your wrists, and back of your knees. Don’t spray all these areas at the same time, start with one and then slowly move to another area. And, remember less is more – don’t over spray.

At Gentil Scents, we carry exceptional fragrance products and many of our fragrance lines come with scented body products. And we’ve also made it easy for you to choose a fragrance based on your preferred fragrance family.

Alla prossima – until next time. Arrivederci.
